Text with 1 note

I’m a firm believer that things happen for a reason

I was planning on sleeping the afternoon away after I got off of work today and that didn’t happen. I love sleep, it’s probably one of my favorite past times aside from drinking and reading, but sleep never came. Tonight, I was supposed to stay in because I have a limited budget, as do my friends, and I just needed time to recover from the week. Also, I couldn’t go to my best friend’s bridal shower this afternoon because it was my first week at a new job and I was scheduled to work today. Out of respect for her I didn’t want to do anything flashy or extravagant.

Surprisingly my friends Stephen and Dora text me asking me if I wanted to hang out. Normally I would have declined, stating that I was too tired or that I had just woken up from a nap, etc., but I hadn’t seen them since 2011 and a reunion was well overdue. I accepted the offer and went to have a drink with them. After some small talk and steady conversation, they gave me the best surprise thus far in the new year. They’re pregnant! I believe that had things gone differently I would have had to find out through text or facebook which wouldn’t necessarily hurt my feelings, but tonight was so exciting and special and meant so much more than a facebook post. It confirms my belief that all things happen as they are meant to, had I taken a nap I wouldn’t have received such amazing news and maybe my outlook on the world would have been more bleak than usual. The jist of this story is that we are here for a predetermined amount of time and the situations we bring ourselves into were ultimately meant to happen, whether we wanted them to or not. Good news, bad news it was always meant to be. ♥
